Although it is a new member in FIPJP (since 2006), Turkey has hosted Women's World Petanque Championship in Samsun in 2008; and Men's World Petanque Championship in İzmir in 2010.

In İzmir  it was France beating Madagascar in the exciting final match and winning gold medal once again. All the matches were played in 5th Hall of International Fair of Izmir,  in a wonderful natural park. 48 nations competed in the championship and 2 more took place in nations cup. The municipality of Konak, and its mayor Dr Hakan TARTAN, did a lot to make it a big success.
